Hey folks. For those that weren’t able to attend our weaving workshop with Thread Caravan last week: it was amazing and we will definitely be hosting similar events in the future!  To recap, we had 10 lovely ladies from all over the world join us to turn our scrap fabrics into new woven creations. Everyone added their own design flare, creating pieces that varied greatly in style.

We used Uxibal scrap fabrics for the body of the weaving. Then we completed the designs using wooden dowels as the hanging posts. Some weavers added their own finishing touches like hanging a leather tassel from our San Juan Fringe Clogs onto the weaving. One weaver used thin straight strips of fabric, in alternating colors and diagonal orientation to create a large geometric pattern. Other weavers got creative layering woven fabrics on top of thick leather strips.

For our next workshop, we’d like to also incorporate local raw cotton and wool fibers for a different look. Stay tuned for future event details!
